Start off the New Year

Well this year's not exactly off to a slow start. Eille and I shot a music video for an up and coming artist, AJ, via Lucky Moon Productions! Now I also start stage managing for Chicago the Musical at Union Station! We have a celebrity guest star playing Mama Morton, but I'm not sure if I can disclose who yet! So AWESOME!

There's also rumor that we will be filming Paragon 2, and I've been asked to come back for my role as Stivviq. Other than that there's not too much going on. Thanks to the snow I've gotten a few vacation days, but I'm ready to be back at work making money.

One last thing...Miss you Jo, and I hope you enjoy the sunny and 50 weather you're getting, cause we're freezing back here.

Restless

Once again things have gone quiet...
While my personal life is having a roller coaster of ups and downs: my ambitions are sitting dormant. I've realized that I was taking a break of sorts. There's been a lot of hope on my behalf that my agent would pull something for me while I adjust to the responsibilities of my new roommate as well as the other changes happening around me. I watch as my Jo becomes a woman of the world and chases her happiness, and I realize that somehow I've taken a back seat on my own chase.
It's been a little over a year since I started this path, and I've done a movie, a cable pilot, and a commercial. It's not a bad start! I truely belive that, but it's time for it to progress to the next level. It's time I pull on the few connections I have made, and start making my own path again! I'll move Heaven and Earth to help those I love,and now I just need to learn how to move them for myself!

Best Day of My Life

Today I am single, carless, and unemployeed,

But Today is the best day of my life!

A couple of years ago, Jo and I got into a discussion on what the best day of our lives had been. And I realized that I could choose one day from my life to be that day, it could be the day I graduated high school, got my eagle scout, gave my mother's hand in marriage to an amazing man, met Jo, or any other day. But no matter what, none of those days will compare to today. Why? Because today I am here and every one of those days gone by is still a part of me. I feel that if I were to label one of the days from my past as the best day of my life, then everything from there out would just be a downhill ride.

Yes, most people would look at my life today and say "Really, this is the best day of your life?", I say yes it is. Right now my life is on the edge of a bottomless chasm full of infinite opportunity. I am in a position to completley change the course of my life and once again redefine myself and my future. So yes, today is the best day of my life, and thank you for being a part of it. I can't wait to see what today is like tomorrow!

A day of Family Fun

Yesterday I headed out to Lawrence to spend a day with my family. Now understand, I do have multiple families: the family I was born into, and the family I chose, both are equally important. Yesterday was the family I chose, Marmee, Beth, and my best friend Jo (yes this is a Little Women reference, they refer to me as Laurie). Spending time with family fits into that "Live everyday to its fullest" category.

Marmee started the day by grilling up some delicious burgers and veggies (yum, grilled zucchini, potatoes we ended up not eating, and tomatoes!), and then as we ate, Marmee filled me in on all the family research she's been doing. Wow the stuff she has discovered about her heritage! I love Marmee, she kept asking if I was bored yet, but how could I be? I love learning about heritage and family stories, especially when they mean so much to someone like they do to Marmee. Beth, Joe and Marmee then showed me a whole bunch of pictures and videos from a couple of weddings that took place last month. One wedding Marmee went to was for a Rwandan Refugee couple (if you don't know about the Rwandan Genocide look it up, there's a really well done movie called "Hotel Rwanda" that I highly recommend). They're wedding was beautiful, not only did they have a traditional Christian wedding, but they also had the traditional Rwandan wedding the same night. I found this intriguing, as the reception starts with all the guests marching in to meet the new couple while singing, clapping and carrying gifts of food to get the new couple started. These gifts included milk, flours, grains, sprite, coca-cola, and Heineken!

After we all caught up, Jo suggested we head over to the elementary school playground to play 4 square! I hadn't played 4 square since I was in elementary school, luckily for me, neither had anyone else! So we all agreed, loaded up in the car and went and played! It was so much fun! You know what, it's not as easy as I remember it, and I also remember those squares being a lot bigger! We also went and played on the playground equipment as well, Marmee got lots of picutres, I'll post some of them when I get a chane to, and if Marmee will share them?!

We ended the day by going back to the house, having ice cream and berries, and winding the day down. My word I really needed that day. It had been quite some time since I had gotten to go and just spend time with them, and I realized how much I missed them. I really miss my Joe, we had been seeing each other once a week through gaming, but Footloose put an end to that, and I just haven't gotten back to it yet. I'll figure something out, I just don't know what I'd do if I have to continue going so long without seeing my Jo!
