Hope

I truly wish that people would remember that each and everyone of us is deserving of love, and that we all have an indisputable right to happiness.
The world would be such a better place.

Scavenger Hunt

Yesterday, I was a bit bored, and thought about going for a walk. Not very exciting, I know, but it's what I do. However, as I was leaving, I had the idea to include my friends by making it a scavenger hunt! I text some of my friends, informing them of what I was doing, and to send me an object to find on my walk. I then agreed to send pics as proof of finding the object. I have great friends, and so my hunt list became: A purple flower, a car with a sun visor in the window, a hipster, statuary, a Prius, wasted food, a bird pooping on a car, a manly blue truck, a license plate with the #7 in it, a man in white sunglasses, a woman in clothing that was too small, a bee hive, a car on cinder blocks, a nice car parked in front of a poor house, a house with plumbing equipment in the front yard, and a garden gnome.
Here are my finds!

I could not find a garden gnome, or a man in white sunglasses, and at the time I was walking, I refused to go to the neighborhoods where I could find the others. All in all, I think this was a great add on to my walk!

Pride in Work

I haven't always been the hardest worker, nor the best, but when I do, I take a certain amount of pride in my work. I've recently been reviewing some of my past jobs, and what I did while I was there. The one that has caught my attention the most was when I was a Partnership Developer at Plattform Advertising, specifically on the Self Growth Engine. For those that remember, that was the project that encouraged me to truly pursue an acting career.
Out of nostalgia I went and checked on the website to see how it has progressed in my absence. To my dismay, it has not. I can not find any articles added after I was let go (Dec. 2010). The only new content seems to be comments posted by scammers to drive traffic to completely unrelated websites. They do this in order to make their websites look like they have more people posting links, which makes Google think they are more popular than they really are.
I know that I have no real reason to be upset about this. But I put a lot of hard work and research into that project. So seeing it abandoned, and left to the whims of unethical spam companies hurts a little. That website had a great potential to help so many people, and now it's being used like a $5 whore in a frat house!
Sorry about the vulgarity, but it bothers me to see something that held such pride for me in that state of disuse.
If I could, I'd by that property, and fix it.

To Be A Kid Again

It's funny, I was just thinking about all the things I would do if I had just one day to be a kid again. I thought that with no worries, or adult concerns, I would play make believe, or go on an adventure through the magical woods, ride bikes, our create some new game with my friends. But once I thought about it, I realized that I would not truly cherish those childhood activities. What I truly miss, and would spend my whole day doing, is being held by my mother. That one simple thing is what I miss most about being a child. Just having my mom wrap me up in a great big hug, and holding me close, always made me feel like nothing else mattered. That I would be safe. That the world was a great place to be a part of.
Oh the things we realize as adults.

Coming to a Wrap

Today we will begin the final day of filming for Cull. After what seems like a lifetime of being on the set (only 3 weeks really), we will finally be able to move on to the Editing process. As is the case for all productions, it is a bittersweet feeling. While I will be happy to return to my normal life, see my friends (whom I've neglected so much!), and start working once again, I will sorely miss these days of being on set. After having the chance to work on a movie of this caliber, I can say with a certainty that this is what I want to do with my life! Though I fear the strain that this lifestyle will put on my friends, family, and loved ones, I hope and pray that they will stick by me, and accept this as a part of me. I don't think I ever fully realized what a life in movies really entailed; the amount of time spent away, the work, sweat, and tears, and not to mention the long hours. But I don't think I can give it up.

I can live my dream.
I will live my dream.

Giddy Moment

Two things: One I realized that I forgot to give a heartfelt thanks to my bosses, Greg and Sandi, at Eden Alley for allowing me to take 3 weeks off to do this movie. You guys really are some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to work for!

Secondly: I discovered today that I have an IMDB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How phenomenally amazing is that! I know, I know, it's not that big of a deal, everyone has one, but it's a milestone for me! Check it out, Davis Michels on IMDB.

When Dreams Come True

It's an amazing thing when you realize that your Dreams are beginning to come true. This month has brought it's own wonderful surprise. I am currently working on a film Cull, not only as an actor, but as the Assistant Director! No, I'm not starring in this one, but I do have a couple scenes and a few lines, and I'm AD! I never realized quite how awesome that could be! Thanks once again to Don Baldwin, Director of Master's Class, for giving me the opportunity to move forward with my life dream and goal!

The Movie is a dark comedy about 2 female serial killers, Victoria and Claudette. I play Jack, one of Victoria's coworkers at the post office. This has been quite a process. I've taken 3 weeks off work from Eden Alley to completely dedicate my time to the Movie. We have completed one week of filming, and have two more to go. The fun really is just starting. We have a wonderful cast and crew who work really well together, and we have incredible talent! Susan Traylor is playing Victoria, and Alex Farnham is playing Dell, Claudette's Love interest.

I'm so happy right now because this is happening. Even with all the stress and last minute changes, I'm doing whtat I love, and that is all that matters. I will keep everyone updated on the process, but no promises as to when because I am strapped for time!

Start off the New Year

Well this year's not exactly off to a slow start. Eille and I shot a music video for an up and coming artist, AJ, via Lucky Moon Productions! Now I also start stage managing for Chicago the Musical at Union Station! We have a celebrity guest star playing Mama Morton, but I'm not sure if I can disclose who yet! So AWESOME!

There's also rumor that we will be filming Paragon 2, and I've been asked to come back for my role as Stivviq. Other than that there's not too much going on. Thanks to the snow I've gotten a few vacation days, but I'm ready to be back at work making money.

One last thing...Miss you Jo, and I hope you enjoy the sunny and 50 weather you're getting, cause we're freezing back here.

Auditons Finally!

This week brought two different auditions! Yay...opportunity finally! On Wednesday I auditioned for a national airing Keystone Light ad, and today I auditioned for a Missouri Lotto commercial. Both went well I think, so fingers are crossed. The odd part is that I had to shave for the audition today...clean shaven is a weird feeling! It's been over a year and a half since I was last without facial hair.

I'll keep everyone posted as to if I get either gig!

Restless

Once again things have gone quiet...
While my personal life is having a roller coaster of ups and downs: my ambitions are sitting dormant. I've realized that I was taking a break of sorts. There's been a lot of hope on my behalf that my agent would pull something for me while I adjust to the responsibilities of my new roommate as well as the other changes happening around me. I watch as my Jo becomes a woman of the world and chases her happiness, and I realize that somehow I've taken a back seat on my own chase.
It's been a little over a year since I started this path, and I've done a movie, a cable pilot, and a commercial. It's not a bad start! I truely belive that, but it's time for it to progress to the next level. It's time I pull on the few connections I have made, and start making my own path again! I'll move Heaven and Earth to help those I love, and now I just need to learn how to move them for myself!

Goals: Name on the silver screen

First off I would like to say thank you to everyone who came out to support us on Thursday at the premier of Paragon! It was an awesome night, and I felt that it was also a mile stone in my pursuit. Not only did I make it up on that big silver screen, but I got to see my name "Davis Michels" roll through the credits (talk about exhilarating!). Though it wasn't the highest quality film; for a zero budget independent film, it was great!
Second; for those who could not make it there will be a second screening. We're not sure when, but I will keep everyone posted as to when that will be.

Back in the Gym

I've finally made a point to start making it back into the gym! Sad news, I was back up to 160lbs. Good news, just a couple weeks of being good and it is dropping back off (158lbs as of an hour ago)! I've also decided that it is now time to start working on building muscle! The goal is to do this without adding too much weight, and with a little research I think I've developed a workout that will do that. Only time will tell!

As for everything else, I have a meeting tomorrow for the cable pilot to finalize contracts and meet everybody. Also, I did not end up auditioning for "Mercy House Split". The reason is that it does not start filming till November, and here I've been talking about moving out west before that. It may not be set in stone, but I don't need to make excuses to stay. The good part is that I am still involved with the film. I'm helping Scott find locations for all the scenes, so if you get an email asking if I can use your apartment/house, that's why! Just kidding...or am I?

One last note: The premier of Paragon will be sometime late September/ October, as soon as I know I'll invite everyone!

Hello Opportunity

I met with a man today who has offered me a role in a Cable Pilot! The double bonus of this is that it is for a show on how actors are trained. He is going to have 14 actors (being themselves) who will be recorded during this Masters Class! If the pilot does not get picked up, no pay. However, we still get the training! I don't see much of a down side here.

On top of that, I have an Audition for "Mercy House Split", a murder mystery film being done by the same director as "Paragon". Again, no pay, but still experience.

*BTW if you would like to audition for "Mercy House Split", auditions are Sunday the 30th of May at the Plaza Branch Library from 2-6. Email Scott Kessler at CreativeThreatFilms@hotmail.com!
